My short feature on Laura Rossi Garcia was posted at the AIGA Design Educators Community website. Rossi was selected to be the first designer for Dialectic, the new academic journal produced by the AIGA Design Educators Community. I also serve on the founding Editorial Board of the journal, and proposed Rossi for the position after meeting her and reviewing her thesis work at Vermont College of the Fine Arts this past spring.

Teaching in Japan
In August 2015, I’ll be traveling to Japan to teach a 5-day summer course at the University of Kitakyushu. Old Dominion University takes part in an annual exchange program where faculty submit proposals for a course they would offer on some aspect of American (U.S.) culture. My proposal, “Way Out West: American Graphic Design 1776–now” was selected and the course will take place August 25–September 1.
Thought Experiments in Graphic Design Education
I am included in the new book Thought Experiments in Graphic Design Education, a project of Booksfromthefuture, edited by Yvan Martinez and Joshua Trees. The book “documents an international mix of experimental, reflexive and speculative projects made by students, educators and practitioners who continue to question how and why graphic design is studied and practiced.” My contribution is a reprint of my essay “Chaos Theories and Uncertainty Principles,” which first appeared in Volume: Writings on Graphic Design, Music, Art, and Culture.
