My book Volume: Writings on Graphic Design, Music, Art, and Culture drops from Princeton Architectural Press on July 21, 2010. The collection presents 29 new and classic text tracks covering critical essays, speculations, polemics, memoirs, ficciones, and more about and around the subtitled topics. In addition to my extensive introduction, the book also features “Liner Notes” by Emigre magazine editor/designer Rudy VanderLans. The hexahexaflexagon

is the symbol-artifact of Ephemeral States. It is a folding paper object composed of 19 equilateral triangles that displays six different faces of six triangles.
